When your clear PET cold cup samples arrive, logo size and the stated capacity are only part of the picture. First, pick up a cup and check how it feels, how the lid fits and how steadily it stands.
Here are three areas to check before moving forward with your packaging order.
1. The Rim: Check Its Shape and the Actual Lid Fit
Slowly turn the cup in your hand and inspect the rim. Does it look evenly round? Are there any visibly flattened areas or raised edges?
Next, attach the exact lid you plan to use. Check whether it sits evenly around the rim and stays securely in place during normal handling.
The cup and lid need to be checked together. Matching specifications—for example, both being listed as 89 mm—are a starting point, but they do not replace a physical fit test.
2. The Body: Feel It as Your Customers Would
Hold the cup with the pressure you would normally use when picking up a drink. Feel different areas of the cup body, then look from the side for any obvious deformation.
If you plan to add a printed logo, hold the cup the way a customer would. Is the main design clearly visible? Does your hand cover an important part of it?
A flat artwork proof helps you review the design. Holding a printed sample helps you see how that design works in everyday use.
3. The Base: Check How Steadily It Stands
Place the cup on a flat, level surface. Rotate it and inspect the support ring around the base from the side.
Look for visible unevenness and check whether the cup rocks noticeably when standing. Repeat the check after filling it as you normally would for service.
Next, Make a Complete Drink
Once you have checked the rim, body and base, prepare a drink using your usual ingredients, ice quantity, lid and straw.
Follow your normal preparation and handover routine. Check how the cup feels when filled, whether the lid remains secure and whether the finished drink has the appearance you want.
Cup dimensions and capacity help you narrow down your options. The final sample check should reflect how your team prepares drinks and how your customers carry them.
